INTERVIEW: DEAR PEONY.

I remember how the first time I saw you! My friend had brought to me Russian Vogue (April 2012) and he translated to me the article about you. After that I understood that I really want to talk with you and to meet you. And so I am very excited! First of all I want to know some basic information about you.

- I live and work from London most of the time. I dream about making my site and store a household name.

Tell me the history of your success. You have really popular blog, mini - clothing - line and a pile of the magazines are hunting you! Why did you launch your blog? Do you have any assistants?

- I don't have any assistants, although I spend a lot of time wishing I did. I started after being photographed outside my university, which by chance was next to the NFC shows pace. After I graduated I decided to give blogging a try after some encouragement from street style photographers I had met.

Let's talk a bit about clothes. You like vintage clothes, yes? Is it a part of your own style?

- I love having special pieces that other people don't have, vintage is great for creating a classics authentic look, which is really my style. A lot of my best vintage is hand me downs from my toothed so they are personal and valuable to me too.

Maybe, you have some favorite movies/actors/actresses from 19-20 century?

- I love golden Hollywood. Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly. Favourite movies are... ‘How to steal a million’, ‘How to marry a millionaire’, ‘To catch a thief’, ‘Vertigo’ and ‘Singing in the rain’.

And what about our modern world? Do you following some designers/ fashion houses/ models/ photographers/ writers? What do you think about contemporary ART?

- I think art and fashion is deeply personal. I don't really buy into art as a branded object. I love something because of how it looks and makes you feel rather than because the artist might be chic, although the phenomenon fascinates me as a history of art graduate. My favourite clothing labels are, Alexandra McQueen, Balmain, Alaia, Joseph, Zara and Hermes.

Lagerfeld said: "Some things never go out of fashion: jeans, the white shirt and the Chanel  jacket". Do you agree with this phrase? Or do you have your own top-3 eternal clothes? Dp you have a Chanel jacket?

- I do have a Chanel jacket, and I agree with him, although there are others too. My TOP: Tux jackets, Hermes bags, smock tops, black and white striped tops, peacoats etc.

Give to people some fashion pieces of advice!

1. Only dress to impress yourself.
2. Be brave it will feel good.
3. Always make sure whatever you wear isn't too short or too tight, leave something's to the imagination.
4. Near buy shoes that are uncomfortable in the shop, it won't every work out.

Do you want to launch in the future your own fashion brand? What clothes will be in your collections?

- No, I don't want to be a designer in the traditional sense. I want to produce a limited about of pieces that are timeless and continuous, rather than seasonal and trends.

Tell me your TOP-5 favourite places in London (which tourists don't know).

- I love to eat at Yauatcha, Kitchen W8, and the Chinese canteen.
I love to shop at Harvey nicks and Joseph on the Brompton road.
Walking in Hyde Park is something I do a lot too.

Do you like the city where you live? Why?

- Yes I love it! I think there is the mix of old and new is like no where else. It's uptown and downtown everywhere.

Which countries/cities do you like the most? Do you travel a lot?

- Yes, for work and pleasure. The states, Asia and Europe the most.

Who is talented? Name one person who realy deserve attention.

- Vanessa Jackman, she's amazing.

Want to wish something to me and the project ‘Lizard’? ;D

- Working in fashion is like rowing a boat, you can do it on your own but it sure helps to have friends. I wish you all the best with the project and your future. X

TIPHAINE PITTET - YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE

Hello, Tiphaine! I am glad to see you here, in the ‘LIZARD’ project! Let’s be acquainted! Who are you?

- My name is Tiphaine and I'm a 20 years old girl living in Switzerland. I've been studying art and design for the past two years and I'm about to start studies in art history and cinema. It is so excited and interesting for me! Moreover, I love hanging out with my friends, reading books and practicing yoga or pilates. My boyfriend and photographer, Luca, is the one who encouraged me to create my own blog after years of reading some and getting inspired online. I'm very thankful for that because I really adore blogging now!

Do you like the city where you live? And what about the fashion and style side in your city?
And what can you tell about your personal style?

- I like the fact that my city situated in a quiet and beautiful place but, honestly, I don't like its atmosphere so much. People here don't really care about how they look (which I think is quite sad, I mean it can sound slightly superficial but your appearance is the part of your personality that you show to the world, do you agree?) and they're not quite interested in fashion, which means that there are very few fashion oriented opportunities and events.

My personal style is pretty hard to describe, as I can get inspired by lots of different things but I'd say it's pretty feminine and casual at the same time. I'm definitely not too bling bling but not too neglected and casual either, see what I mean?

Exactly! Yor style is quite pretty for people who follow classics and originality at the same time! Tell me, please, if you had a chance to tell something to millionth public/audience, what would you like to tell?

- I would tell them to enjoy their life and live in the present. I know it sounds a little cliché but it's totally my motto! In my opinion, happiness is a choice and I think it can be found in the smallest things. There are too many people in this world who are focusing on the negative things and, therefore, missing all the good ones, so that's definitely what I'd wanna tell the world - be happy and let it go!

Are you always try to follow your dreams?

- Yes, I do! I'm actually very passionate so I have like a thousand dreams coming up in my head every minute, and I surely try my best to make some of them come true!

How do you think, people should follow their dreams or in some situations should make a pause and think over or even change something in their lives?

- I think that following your dreams is highly important, then again it's a little cliché but you only live once!

What do you think about present-day fashion?

- Well, this is quite difficult to tell for me. On the one hand, I love the fact that fashion is so versatile and dynamic nowadays, but on the other hand I think it's a little too much sometimes. When you see those famous people in fashion who don't wear the same piece twice and have literally tons of designer items I can't help but think it's a little overrated and superficial.

And let's touch the theme of the art. Whom creations and works do you like? And what about the painters?

- I think one of my favorite painters is Van Gogh. I love how much emotions and feelings he put into his paintings, they're so strong! You can feel the intensity of his personality simply by looking at them. 'Starry night' for example is one of my favorite artworks ever. On more contemporary terms, I really like the work of British sculptor Anish Kapoor. His creations are very intense and special to look at as well, even though it's not in the same way as the ones from Van Gogh!

And which books and writers do you like and choose? Do you have favorite one?

- I remember reading some books from Boris Vian when I was younger and I loved it back then! It's been a while though so I'm not sure I would still enjoy reading these. I actually used to read literally all the time when I was younger, I loved Harry Potter (I read each volume five or six times), Paulo Coelho, Sophie Kinsella, and many more I can't remember right now!

It is so cool! 5 or even 6 times! Amazing! ;D
And now about some strangeness in you life. Name 10 strange funny and crazy-interesting things about yourself and your life, of course!

- Okay, let's start! ;D

1. I get crazy about dogs, each time I see one my heart melts.
2. I went through a phase where I didn't stand the color green, and I actually removed everything green from my bedroom!
3. I was really excited with my first tattoo! And, so, I've done it!
4. I love painting my nails, I actually think it's been over two or three years since I have left them natural for the last time.
5. My boyfriend and I met in Copenhagen on a class trip, so romantic! - Fabulous start of the love-story!
6. Talking about him, I'm still trying to convince my boyfriend to come with me to Disneyland, he's never been there!
7. I'm addicted to TV series and can spend hours watching them!
8. I truly believe that animals are equal to human beings and I can't stand people who hurt them or consider them inferior to us.
9. Even though I'd love to work in the fashion industry, I also hope that someday I'll be able to retire to a quiet place and live in harmony with nature.
10. I try to have a healthy lifestyle and eat organic food as much as I can.

You know, it is really one of the most interesting answer I've ever read! ;D
Describe the breakfast of your dream!

- Well, I love eating fruits and drinking coffee or tea for breakfast, but then if it's a special occasion then I'd love to add some cereal bread, raspberry jam, maybe some nutella and pastries too! I'm such a foodie.

Tell me about your passion to travel! I adore it too and can not live without new emotions I received in other cities and countries! What about you?

- I simply love traveling. I got the chance to have parents that loved it too and, therefore, they took us to some pretty amazing places, and it turns out that they passed me their passion down! Travelling is one of the biggest my interests and I'm lucky that my boyfriend loves it too!

For what do you want to tell 'Thank you'? And for whom?

- I'd like to thank my boyfriend Luca who's always been there for me (cheeeesy I know, sorry guys!), he's the one who makes me laugh everyday and cheers me up when I'm sad. My friends and family, of course, are also very important, couldn't have made it without them!

Tell me, please, the funniest story which happened with you in your life!

- Oh my, there are so many things I could tell you about that, funny and embarrassing things happen to me all the time! The latest one happened in Barcelona. We were watching this beautiful "Magical Fountains" show, it was at night and the atmosphere was pretty peaceful - at least until the wind started to blow. We got soaked in just a few seconds and couldn't do anything about it! It was very fun and we laughed about it a lot ;)

The moment like that you can not forget! ;D
Do you have your own life or fashion rules? And what advice can you give to people who want to live and work in the fashion sphere?

- I think there shouldn't be rules in fashion. The most important thing is to feel good and confident about the way you look, no matter if the things you're wearing are trendy or not! Same thing for the life rules - the most important thing is to be happy and confident about yourself.

What is FASHION for you?

- It's a way to express your personality and show to the world who you are!

In which age did you start to wear high heels and do make-up?

- I think I started wearing both around 15-16 years old, maybe a little older for the heels.

What do you think about 'Lizard' project?

- I think it's a great project! I read a few interviews already and I think it's a great way to get to know more about the people that inspire you.

Welcome to our team, Tiphaine! ;D

TO BE CREATIVE. RACHEL LYNCH.

Hello, Rachel! Let’s be acquainted! Who are you?

- My name is Rachel. I live in Brooklyn. I play in Brooklyn. I'm from Michigan and Chicago. I love my family over everything. I've been creative since my mother gave birth to me. Blog: http://velvetcigarette.com/

Thanks to your page in LOOKBOOK I learned that you live in New York. I heard a lot about this city. A lot of people repeat over and over again that this city is a madness world full of new experiences, steps, dreams and goals. What is NY for you?

- New York will forever be home to me for 2 reasons. First, my grandfather's family came over here from Ireland during the potato famine. They lived in the irish projects. When he was 16, his father died so he was left to raise himself and his 11 brothers and sisters here alone. I am inspired by his New York hustle. He moved the family to Washington D.C. so that's where my family comes from now. Second reason is that when I was 11 my dad took me to New York for the first time since I was a baby. He made it the best for me. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, he took me to Tiffany's for a diamond (Breakfast at Tiffany's) and the big Macy's for a dress (Miracle on the 34th Street).

Amazing stories! Please, tell us, what are the advantages and disadvantages of living in New York?

- Nothing really, you hustle how you have to.

I personally think that you are an owner of incredible style! I've never seen the similar style as you hav,, really! What does influence you?

- Aliens influenced me.

May be you have a dream or even a goal concerned with fashion?

- My goal is to be creative forever only.

Some strangeness?

- I'm Catholic and Alien.

If you have a chance to have dinner with a celebrity, who will it be?

- Certainly, LeCrae.

What do you prefer to eat for breakfast? ;D

- I choose Starbucks and only Starbucks.

Do you have some life or fashion rules?

- I sort of roll with the Ten Commandments and I love the saying: "treat others the way you want to be treated".

 Do you like parties? ;D

- Absolutely YES!

Do you have favourite designers of Fashion Houses?

- I love Wildfox and UNIF.

What things, in your opinion, need to have EVERY girl in the wardrobe?

- Platforms.

The most banal but, undoubtedly, important question: what inspires you?

- The solar system inspires me.

Who make the photos for your blog?

- My best friend, Shooka.

INTERVIEW: I AM IN NEW YORK. I AM A DESIGNER. PATRICIA CHANG.

patriciachang_bts4.png

Hello, Patricia! I am glad to see you in the 'LIZARD' project! Tell us who are you and why are you? ;D

- My full name is Patricia HyunJu Chang-Wu; I was born on February 17 1984 in NY, where I lived all my life. I went to school at RISD.

You are a young designer and it is so cool! You know, I like your collections and your clothes. Simple, but very fresh and interesting! Where do you find inspiration?

- Living in NYC and in the age of the internet, my inspiration really does come from everywhere. From nature, technology, paintings, prints, home, people and cultures. I don't limit myself from what can inspire me.

patriciachang_bts1.png

What is your favorite item from your wardrobe?

- For the winter, I'd say it is a big cozy sweater. In the summer, an unrestricted airy dress.

How did you first get interested in fashion and design?

- I've always used fashion as a means to stand out and it was always a big part of my identity. I combined my creative talents with my passion and fashion design was a natural career path.

To be a designer – is it your childhood dream or a goal of all your life?

- As a kid, I would conjure up the ideal outfits and fill my sketchbooks with it in my free time.

Did you have a practice in the famous FASHION HOUSES?

- I spent most of my fashion industry years at MARCHESA. Then I went on to freelance for several NY based companies before launching my own line.

 Favorite colors?

- White and Black because they are classic but practical. My favorite colors always align with my mood, but I'm always attracted to either a soothing neutral palette or vivid bold colors. It was a moment when I was feeling a zen eggshell color.

AW 2012 COLLECTION BY PATRICIA CHANG

The most interesting and practice colour-combinations?

- Any pastels / black and gold / white and navy / pink and green / any color with a pop of red.

In your SS 2013 collection we can’t find trousers! Why?

- While designing SS13, I really wanted to go on a summery vacation. The collection reflects the light summer air.

With whom do you want to work/collaborate?

- There is a NY artist, Beau Chamberlain, whom I discovered in a NY gallery. I would love to collaborate with his sense of colors and whimsical, organic elements. It would bring any piece of clothing to life.

patriciachang_bts9.png

I recognize that a lot of girls are not looking at the catwalks but to the fashion bloggers who are essentially teaching girls how and what to wear, as well as setting trends.

Do you follow some designers or, may be, FASHION HOUSES?

- I try to keep up with my fashion news via WWD.

Which collections are always genious?

- Mary Katrantzou, Alexander McQueen, and Givenchy are always spot on.

What are you working on just now?

 - I'm focusing on sales and launching a shop on my website.

patricia chang bts 5.png

Do you know some original and influential people in the FASHION WORLD?

- I am grateful to have worked with the people I have in previous jobs, as well as the bloggers who wear my clothes. A lot of my friends are buyers who are probably the most influential people in fashion behind the scenes.

How do you think, which thing will never go out of FASHION?

A good trench coat.

Your favorite item from your own latest collection (I mean SS 2013)?

- I just made a floral trench coat for Fall 2013.

patriciachang_bts2.png

Do you want to have your own line of accessories/ bags or shoes?

- I have necklaces and will be expanding the bag collection. No shoes yet.

Who sews clothes for your collections?

- A factory in NY's garment district.

patriciachang_bts6.png

Do you like to draw sketches?

- I enjoy sketching and drawing when I have time to do it leisurely. Otherwise, it is more for jotting down ideas.

What 5 items should have every girl?

- Flattering black pants, a solid colored party dress to wear with different accessories, a good coat, a white summer dress, and a comfortable cozy sweater.

Do you have some fashion and beauty secrets?

- Take care of the ends of your hair, contour your face with make up, and wear good shoes.

patricia chang bts 7.png

 Do you have a motto?

- My motto is - If you fall, get up and try again. Always be true to yourself.

Do you have some rules that you will never break?

- I'll break all the rules at some point - intentionally or accidentally, but I'll never let anything take away my optimism.

Some strange facts and things about yourself?

- As girly as I am - I enjoy tea parties, taking photos, making dresses, I have a wild side to me. I love racing cars, snowboarding and playing drums. I want to travel the world. I think Korean food is the best. I am obsessed with cats. I am extremely interested in psychology and the human brain. I love collection trinkets.

‘DESIGNER’ is a difficult work? Or is it really cool, fun and interesting?

- Everyone says it's hard work - but let me say it again - it is 50x harder than what you can imagine it to be. It's never been simple, but it's always been interesting.

You are really stunning girl! I mean, that you are talented, interested, original in your answers and you always follow your dreams and goals! I wish you achieve all your goals and always believe that you are strong. Be really cool designer! ;D

- Thank you for letting me be part of your Project. It's always lovely collaborating with others who are following their dreams. Wish you the best as well!! Thank you again.
